Combination Feelings

One of the situations where I constantly seem to experience combination feelings is when I go on job interviews. I usually experience excitement and nervousness. The excitement usually comes from the anticipation of actually getting the job and the nervousness is usually a feeling of not being good enough to get the job. These are usually jobs that I am well qualified for in the area of education and experience. I also prepare for the interviews by researching the company and even going as far as having family members or friends to do mock interviews with me.
The most recent interview I had was with a telecommunications company which I have many years of experience in telecommunications, so I knew I was well qualified for the job and also thought I was well prepared for the interview. I left the interview feeling like it went pretty well, but after a couple of days I received the dreaded we chose someone else email.

  1. I recently read Diana's blog and it is similar to yours. I advised her to have family members conduct mock interviews as well. It sounds like overall you are very confident about yourself. Confidence is very important. If you believe in yourself, you will be a successful person. Although you might not have gotten that particular job, you have the confidence to continue to try. Remember, "You are not considered a failure until you stop trying". Have a great day :)

  2. Keshia,
It seems as though we feel the same way when going to interviews. The combination feelings that I have are excitment, nervousness, an fear. The fear creeps in because I have had much success with getting jobs when I was young and it seemed like a breeze. Now that I have gotten older and put on a few more pounds. I know without a doubt that the interviewer is looking at my weight as well. Yes, I have the qulifications and experience but as a whole the society that we live in has a major problem when it comes to another person's weight.
This does not stop me from proceeding with the interview but it does have the palms of my hands sweating just wondering what are they really thinking about me? Does my qulifications even count?
